Miri's Arts & Culture Movement

Who We Are
MYYLA (pronounced mai-lah) is short for MYY (Miri Airport Code) L stands for “living,” and A for “arts.” In essence, MYYLA is a creative community-led platform. We are made up artists, creatives, producers and arts managers who live in Miri, Sarawak.
Why did we start?Let’s be frank. We have almost no arts infrastructure in a city which had built itself on oil & gas.
Our role is in creating opportunities to showcase the talents and work of our many artists. We also put together free public arts program in order to make the arts more accessible to Mirians.
When we can, we also facilitate development opportunities as well as regional and international connections for fellow artists.
We do this all this through partnerships and grants.
MYY Living Arts is also a play on “my” being our living arts.

Miri to be known as a community vibrant with creative expressions – and a city with its unique soul.
