Who doesn’t adore fried chicken? The crispiest, juiciest fried chicken with a kick from Foochow fermented red yeast.
That sounds intriguing. I’m not joking.
The second series of Culinary Demo and Dialogue was presented by Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) and MYY Living Arts in association with WAT Academy Miri.
The demo in Miri was free to attend and was conducted by Madam Ting En Thein, a trainer from the WAT Academy.
The first ten people who enrolled were given ten sets of fresh ingredients for a hands-on activity. Through the WAT Academy Facebook page, the demo was live webcast.
Madam Ting demonstrated to the participants how to make red yeast while they waited for the chicken to marinate. She provided the ingredients and accompanying advice. The best part was that each participant got a package of red yeast to take home.
In order to produce more tender and crispier fried chicken, participants were taught how to fry the chickens utilising the double frying method. Everyone’s appetites increased as the kitchen began to smell delicious.
The attendees were given assistance with the food presentation by Madam Ting’s assistants. It was entertaining to observe how each person plates.
We all got to sample the finished product after everything was done. It was so mouth wateringly delicious! The participants are allowed to bring the leftovers home with them.
On June 11th, a new round of the Culinary Demo & Dialogue featuring kelupis and chicken curry will take place. The seats are all reserved, and we are eager to eat kelupis, or should we say, prepare kelupis.
